Family Worship Center’s 2002 Ministries Training Conference “Back To Ground Zero” was a huge success! For the last couple of years, we had floundered. We had been everything but focused. Yes, we had a mission statement, but it was more “head knowledge” than “heart knowledge,” and because of this, morale was low, energy was weak. We were almost at a place of trying to survive rather than at a place of “making an impact.”

At this conference, we went “Back To Ground Zero.” We went back to where God first spoke to this church. We went back to that place where God’s Mission first impacted our lives. The results? Well, a fire began to be ignited in our hearts once again. We began to realize that our mission was not given to us by our Pastor or our denomination. Our mission was given to us by God! He reaffirmed it again. The passion cam alive in the people and now, once again, our church is on the move!

God desires for your church to be a “radical church.” Now wait a minute before you run - do you know what the word “radical” really means? It’s probably not what you think. God has called and empowered His family, the Church, to win the world to Jesus Christ. He has promised to proved us everything we need in order that “we might have an abundance for every good deed.” He has promised us power over all the power of the enemy so that nothing would by any means harm us. The question then arises, “If this is God’s mission for His Church, and if the Devil can’t stop us, and people can’t stop us, then what is stopping us?” What is it that hinders God’s Church from moving forward and taking new ground and new territory? Pastor Moore believes the main reason is “unresolved conflict in the family.” Conflict in the Church finds its origin in the home. In this series we will learn how to recognize it and deal with it at home, and thereby effectively overcome it in the Church. In every conflict there is both danger and opportunity, but the outcome of the conflict will be determined by our response to it.

When Pastor Moore was in the Cairo High School Band, his Band Director, Mr. Joe A. David, III, had a motto that he lived by as well as imparted to his students. It made such an impact on Pastor Moore, that he has never forgotten it. Mr. David would say…

In looking at my own life, I have discovered some things that were hindering my effectiveness. I realized that though these had become habits, they were actually enemies that limited my effectiveness. Leadership can sometimes be compared to a roller coaster ride. Some days we’re going up, other days we’re going down, and some days we’re not sure which way we are going. In this lesson, I want to share with you some principles I have learned from experiences in my own life that I believe you will find helpful in staying up during the down times of leadership.

 
In this lesson we will learn that to be a leader one must be looking at a picture that goes unnoticed by the natural eye. But to be an effective leader one must help those around him see the same picture he sees – the big picture. If the people can’t see the big picture, the vision and dream will be short lived. However, if the leader can help the people understand that the real picture is the big picture, nothing can stop the vision from becoming a reality.

 
A farmer understands that a great harvest doesn’t come from the fruit down, but instead from the seed up. In the same way a person doesn’t become a great leader from the outside in, but from the inside out. Every one of us have the potential to become great leaders, but to do so, we must grow and develop form the inside out, and this is a principle that we never out grow. This lesson is the foundation on which every great leader must build their life.
